Work is not where you go……

it’s what you do.

The modern workforce won’t be tethered to a desk.

What blocks you or your workforce from working anywhere?

Do you or your staff ask any of these questions:

“I’ll email the document to myself so I can work on it from home.”

“She’s not answering her work phone because she’s working from home; try her mobile phone.”

“I’m out of the office, so I’ll get the quote to the customer tomorrow.”

“My meeting with a customer ran long, so I’ll join the conference call when I get back to my desk.”

It’s a mobile world, after all.

Mobility’s dramatic impact on our personal lives is changing the expectations around how we operate in our work lives.

67% of CIOs and IT professionals believe mobility will impact business as much as – or more than – the internet did in the 1990’s.

Mobile is quickly becoming the new normal.

72% of the U.S. workforce will be mobile by 2020. And 17% of workers will only use mobile devices to do their jobs by 2019.

Another very important point to remember – our devices already outnumber us.

In 2014 there were 7.2 billion people in the world compared to 7.4 billion mobile devices. It is expected that by 2019 these numbers will blow out even further with an expected 11.5 billion mobile devices compared to 7.7 billion people!

Mobility promotes productivity.

Data published by Microsoft confirms that mobility promotes productivity. With 77% of people surveyed being more productive while working offiste, 30% accomplishing more in less time, 24% accomplishing more in the same amount of time and 23% being willing to work longer hours offsite rather than onsite.

This is further supported by data in the U.S. which confirms that the workplace is changing with 58% of office space being vacant on any given day.

I’m more productive working offsite – 77%
I accomplish more in less time – 30%
I accomplish more in the same amount of time – 24%
I’m willing to work longer hours offsite than onsite – 23%

Mobile work works: The ROI of mobility

It’s no accident that organisations are increasingly enabling their people to connect from outside the office. Employers derive at least as much value from remote work as employees do.

Organisations adopting mobile work styles cite happier, more productive employees and lower costs.

More flexible, agile workforce – 73%
Lower travel costs – 53%
Lower real estate costs – 48%
Better talent attraction – 47%
Better talent retention – 44%

Each remote worker has been estimated to produce 240 extra hours of work per year.

That equates to 6 additional weeks of work and over $5,000 of captured value per worker.

The gains of a mobile workforce are real, according to global organisations that support remote workforces.

Time spent on task (enterprise) – 34%
Improved sales – 23%
Customer loyalty and retention – 29%
Time spent on task (field services) – 30%
Competitive advantages – 34%
