Systems Engineer
Location: Tingalpa, QLD

Smile IT is searching for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis in Tingalpa!
About the Role:
You’ll be the go-to technical expert – guiding team members, managing complex IT requests, and delivering solutions both remotely and onsite. You will play a key role in driving customer satisfaction, ensuring the stability of client environments and enhancing IT maturity.

Key Responsibilities
As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned clients and select technologies or platforms, you will:
- Resolve complex technical incidents to minimise downtime and ensure continuity.
- Provide technical direction, take ownership of escalations, and mentor team members to build capability.
- Install, configure, and maintain IT systems, offering training where required.
- Stay informed on emerging IT trends, technologies, and relevant certifications to maintain expertise.
- Conduct regular health checks to identify risks and maintain optimal performance.
- Drive IT maturity through the implementation of Smile IT gold standards.
- Collaborate with Account Managers to develop and maintain strategic IT roadmaps.
- Maintain accurate records for systems, changes, and compliance requirements.
- Support team members with ad hoc tasks and projects as request as needed.
Skills & Experience:
- 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or similar client facing roles.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication abilities.
- Ability to develop and execute IT roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Be a strategic thinker with a proactive approach to challenges.
- An innovative, confident problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
- Strong leadership skills to support the growth and development of junior team members.
Additional Requirements
A valid Blue Card is desirable. In the absence of one, successful applicants will be required to undergo a police check.

Support Technician

You’ll play a key part in ensuring end-user success by delivering reliable, responsive IT support, meeting SLAs and confidently managing client expectations.
As a Support Technician, you’ll have experience dealing with high volume tickets, supporting 25-500 users across varied environments and exposure to various technologies (M365, AD, Networking, AV, Backups).Why choose Smile IT?

What You Will Do:
- Resolve IT issues efficiently, both remotely and onsite with regular on call support.
- Diagnose and address hardware, software, network or cloud issues.
- Ensure timely resolutions of request, manage client expectations, and follow up for satisfaction.
- Install, configure, and maintain IT systems, providing training as required.
- Analyse client environments to recommend solutions, reduce risk and improve efficiency.
- Share expertise and mentor junior technicians to build team knowledge.
- Stay informed on IT trends, technologies, and relevant certifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation for systems, changes, and compliance.
What You Will Bring:
- 2 to 4 years’ experience in similar role (MSP desirable).
- A reliable & proactive attitude with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to Windows and Mac operating systems, hardware, and common software applications.
- Ability to document processes thoroughly, follow technical instructions, and assist with system upgrades and installations.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
- Skills in developing IT roadmaps and driving service improvement.
- Experience in mentoring junior staff and fostering team growth.
- Relevant certifications (MS-102, MD-102, AZ-104) are a plus.
