Professional services companies seeing tangible productivity and time-saving benefits from AI have moved past the ‘Claude Curious’ stage. In fact, they’re out of the AI exploration stage and into implementation.
This means they’ve nailed down their operational problems, matched them to the right tools, and built processes around them.
Anthropic’s Claude is the tool we’re seeing deliver exceptionally consistent results across professional services here at Smile IT. Here are five examples of how it’s been used across five different industries.
1. Law firms processing incoming briefs
Law firms deal with a lot of documents, and much of that information is sensitive. Maintaining privacy and security is essential, particularly when it comes to new matter briefs. These are normally 40 to 80-page PDFs built around a new client file. They need to be read and digested, with key information extracted into a usable summary.
It’s time-consuming work that would take a junior associate hours.
Here’s how a legal services firm can deal with this:
- Point Claude Cowork at an incoming documents folder where the new matter briefs land.
- It reads through the brief in seconds.
- It extracts key parties, dates, claims, and deadlines.
- It automatically creates a structured one-page matter summary.
What used to take hours now takes minutes, and output is always consistent. This can be applied more broadly, too. Any firm dealing with high volumes of incoming documents, contracts, compliance submissions, or client correspondence can apply the same approach.
2. Construction consultancies building internal tools

There was one problem – they didn’t have a single view of what was happening across the business. Any kind of status update involved contacting multiple people and reconciling information from multiple sources.
Firms in this position turn to Claude to solve this problem. Pointed at the same spreadsheets and sources the team already maintains, Claude pulls all the information together and presents it in a single and current summary. Questions like “where do all 30 projects actually stand?” get answered in an instant.
The team can also ask questions like “which projects are over budget?”, or “what’s slipping this week?”. They can even have Claude draft a board-ready status update straight from the source files.
There’s no need to engage with expensive developers with slow turnarounds and no need for a purpose-built platform.
3. Financial planning practices drafting advice documents
Statement of Advice documents are a core output for financial planning practices. They’re also one of the most time-intensive, accounting for masses of man-hours every month. They’re compliance-sensitive and built around the needs of specific clients – each one can take three or four hours of work.
Claude can help reduce that by more than 50%. It gets configured with templates and compliance requirements, and then digests key client data to produce a first draft. The adviser doesn’t have to start from scratch – they have a working first draft to review, adjust and finalise.
Senior staff then have more time on their hands to spend advising clients and growing those relationships. Again, this is a method that can be applied to any professional services output following a defined structure, whether it’s engineering reports or insurance assessments.
4. Strata management firms preparing AGM packs
Building a pack for homeowners in a body corporate attending the Annual General Meeting is an intensive process. Strata management firms need to pull financials, draft agenda items, compile maintenance histories, and format everything to a standard template.
For larger body corps of over 200 properties, that’s a lot of labour. AI can drastically reduce it.
Point Claude Cowork to the property folder containing all the relevant documentation. It will pull all the necessary information and create the AGM pack in a ready-to-review format. It will highlight any information missing, and can easily make changes to the pack via request prompts from the reviewer.
It’s not just about a faster process; it’s more accurate too, with less risk of information being missed.
5. Mining operations managing contractor compliance

Mining companies can now use Claude to take the manual effort out of this. It works across their document folders, producing a regular status summary for contracts and safety teams. It reviews everything on file and flags missing or expiring certifications.
Your data stays where it has always lived, and there are no new systems to learn or log into. Engagement with Claude becomes conversational – the team can ask questions like ‘are any insurance certificates expiring?’ and get a direct answer from Claude, pulled out of your documentation.
You get a clear picture of compliance across the mining organisation’s contractors.
